You may feel that you need support or that you have lost your peace - I want you to know that I am here for you.
I want you to feel heard and know that you are not alone in whatever it may be that you are facing. I believe that by gaining further insight through counselling, you can take control, build self-awareness and gain self-acceptance for a more fulfilling future.
It is normal to enter counselling with a feeling of uncertainty and I appreciate that stepping out for help may be a big step for you. I will walk alongside you throughout your therapeutic journey, offering you a safe and non-judgmental space to work at a pace that suits you. I tailor my approach to ensure that the therapy you receive meets your needs and is personal to you. I provide a kind, warm, empathic and curious presence to aid greater understanding and empowerment.
I work predominantly using the person-centred approach, focussing on self-development in the ‘here and now’. Working collaboratively, we can create a trustworthy and supportive bond to aid in navigating through your challenges. Together, we can explore your lived experiences, thoughts, emotions and aspirations. We can identify and work towards overcoming obstacles that may be holding you back, aiding in personal growth.
Please click here to send me a message - I also offer a free 15-minute no obligation phone call to explore your aims for counselling and how I may be able to help you. I can also answer any questions that you may have.
Thank you for considering me to walk alongside you on your therapeutic journey.
"When a person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, or alienated, then understanding is called for... [and] deep understanding is... the most precious gift one can give to another"

About
Before training as a counsellor I worked in various roles over the years but was left feeling like I wanted more from life. I knew that something had to give and I had to make the change so I decided to embark upon a complete career shift. I wanted a role where I could support others in their time of need and have a genuinely positive impact. My dream of running my own counselling practice is a blessing and I can truly say that it is a privilege to work with so many clients from all walks of life.
In my spare time I enjoy being outside in nature, equally the warmth of home comfort, sitting down with a good book and a cup of tea! My faith plays a big part of who I am and is a source of strength for me.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and over the years I have worked with clients dealing with challenges such as bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, anger, depression, anxiety, work related stress, bullying, addiction, bipolar disorder, trauma, suicidal ideation, negative self-image, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), domestic violence, loneliness and post-traumatic stress (PTS).
Alongside this, I have volunteered on various bereavement support helplines as well as working on a helpline for first responders such as NHS workers and the Police. I have also volunteered on a local Church Prison Ministry team, going into prisons to provide outreach and support.
Some key training that I have received relates to trauma awareness, bereavement, high stress and anxiety, hoarding, mental health, inquest procedure, gambling, rape and sexual assault, self-harm, coaching and developing others, self-care, loneliness and isolation, domestic abuse, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Military culture, transition and adjustment.
In addition to the above training, I am qualified to the following levels:
Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling at York St John University
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills at York College
Whilst I am trained to offer counselling in various areas, I have a further professional interest in working with serving military personnel, veterans and front-line workers.
